[Otto Keramik]
Founded in 1964 by Otto Gerhartz, this pottery factory in Rheinbach, Germany, was the birthplace of the pottery boom of the 1960s and 1970s.
This was one of the manufacturers that had the greatest influence during the Fat Lava boom.
Otto is the production director for Ruscha, Fat Lava's flagship brand.
He invented various glazes. After going independent, Otto Keramik started out in his home studio.
All of the glazes used in the factory from its founding until 1978 were invented by Gerhartz.
The expressive colors and textures of the carefully selected glazes are still loved by collectors around the world.
Currently, his son is running the business, carrying on his legacy.
Even today, it is made by hand with great attention to detail.
They are one of the few manufacturers of artistic pottery that pushes the boundaries of glazes, colors and textures.
